Federal and State governments have been urged to intensify more efforts to look for talented sports men and women at the grassroots so as to move sports development forward in the country.
The proprietor, Mercy Dew Models School, Lanjorin, Ilorin, Kwara state, Engineer Tosin Olawepo stated this in Ilorin on Wednesday during the maiden inter House Sports competition of the school.
The event was held at the Rasidi Yekinni Sports Stadium, Ilorin
He said that, “there are alot of abundant sports and men at the local levels that are untapped for future sports outing”.
Olawepo added that, “if the federal, state and other sports agencies can take this chance to move inwards to bring them into national outlook, there is going to be opportunity to show their talents for the sports growth of the country’.

The proprietor stated that, the inter House sports competition was organised so as to boost the sports development among the students of the school.
He noted that, the inter House sports competition has provided the chance for the school to discover good sports enthusiasts that if well mentored can be of great immense to the sports development in the country.
Olawepo said that, the school’s inter house competition also provided the chance for the students to interact with each other for the development of their sound minds.
He therefore lauded the support of the students, parents and staffs of the school for the successful conduct of the school’s inter house sport competition saying that, it would go a long way of promoting sports and educational development of the school.
Meanwhile, one of the parents, Mr. Azeez Abiona expressed his gratitude to the school management for organizing the competition.
He encouraged the participants to identify areas for improvement and work harder for better results in the future.
At the end of the competition, Yellow House came first, follow by Red House that came second while Green and Blue House came third and fourth respectively.
