A renewed call for unity, peace, and spiritual revival echoed through Jos, the Plateau State capital, as former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, visited Governor Caleb Muftwang in a symbolic gesture that coincided with the commencement of the Middle Belt Worship Convention.
The convention, convened by the Covenant Altar of Worship, drew thousands of worshippers, religious leaders, and prominent political figures from across Nigeria’s Middle Belt, setting the tone for an atmosphere charged with faith and a collective yearning for healing and restoration.
Dr. Hashim, known for his advocacy for national unity and development, led a high-powered delegation to the Plateau State Government House.
Among those in his company were Dr. Chris Hassan, Chairman of the Plateau State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkwon; Senator Napoleon Bali; Hon. Natip Padur, Deputy Chairman of Wase LGA; Mr. Ezekiel Dumfa, former Youth Leader of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Plateau; and Mr. Dan Qada, Special Adviser on Middle Belt and Ethnic Nationalities.
During the visit, Hashim offered fervent prayers for peace and healing in the troubled state, affirming, “Plateau shall rise again and once more become the shining jewel of hospitality and agriculture in Nigeria.”
He also used the occasion to commiserate with families affected by recent violent attacks in parts of the state, pledging ongoing support for justice and reconciliation.
Receiving the delegation, Governor Muftwang described the visit as both timely and symbolic, especially following a similar visit by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
He lauded Dr. Hashim for his unwavering support for the people of Plateau and his consistent advocacy for national cohesion.
Also in attendance at the government house meeting were the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Samuel Jatau; Chief of Staff, Hon. Jerry Satmark; and Hon. Yari Kumchi.
The engagement concluded with a closed-door session between Governor Muftwang and Dr. Hashim, as faith and political leadership found common ground in the quest for peace in Plateau and the Middle Belt region.
