House of Representatives Candidate for Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, has promised to sponsor a bill on national security architecture if elected to the Green Chambers.
Ajia who expressed disappointment over the rising spate of insecurity in the country stressed that it was necessary to strengthen internal security.
He stated this on Wednesday at the public unveiling of his blueprint titled “my offer to serve” held in Ilorin the Kwara State Capital.
Ajia who is a retired Superintendent of Police, said the force would have to set the pace in combating security challenges internally adding that such bill will be part of measures to contain security challenges.
He said that as a security expert, he is prioritizing security in his areas of focus in legislation owing to its importance to the survival of the people and the society at large.
According to him “I will sponsor a bill that will take care of the nation’s security architecture. We need to strengthen our internal security. In doing this, Police should take a lead role. We need coordination”, he said.
Ajia promised to mobilise his personal resources to bring about the needed development for the people of Ilorin West/Asa Federal constituency, if voted into office, come February 25.
He challenged the people of the constituency to hold him for his words, if he is voted in, and his performance falls short of the promises in the document.
Ajia expressed confidence in the ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible elections with the deployment of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), saying that the last gubernatorial election in Osun State was an indication that the facility is capable of curbing electoral fraud.
He also harped on the need to embrace electronic transmission of elections’ results and as well as fortification of server of the electoral management body.
Ajia thereafter used the medium to call on the people to vote his party, at all level in order to restore Nigeria back to its lost glories.
Speaking at the event the state PDP chairman Hon Babatunde Mohammed described Ajia as a candidate with courage, character and capability, adding that he is well prepared for the job.
He appealed to voters to encourage the likes of Ibrahim Ajia for adequate representation and maintained that his antecedents without holding any public office were convincing enough to earn him votes in the February 25, 2023 Presidential and National Assembly polls.
