The National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Aliyu Uthman, has assured stakeholders that the Union will ensure that there is peace before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.
This is contained in a statement signed by the President of the union, Uthman, on Thursday in Ilorin.
Uthman assured all and sundry that the union was ready to offer anything to ensure that the long held reputation of Ilorin as an abode of peace was maintained.
He said that the Union was determined to ensure all political players and their supporters played their game by its rules and in a way that peace and harmony of Ilorin would not be altered.
The president assured that the union would soon set up a committee of eminent and apolitical statesmen of proven integrity, just like that of 2019, under the Chairmanship of late Justice Abdulkadir Orire.
He said that the committee would ensure that the prediction of the prophets of doom and their evil plans of anticipating that the community would go up in flame, was effectively averted.
“All hands must be on deck to ensure that peace prevails, so that the spate of unrest and instability threatening the peaceful existence of the country is kept away from Ilorin and Kwara at large.
“I assure that the union will not shy away from its responsibilities no matter the situation,” he said.
