Against the backdrop of the rising wave of illegal dumpsites within Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital, the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Remilekun Banigbe, has illegal dumpsites in the Ilorin metropolis will be evacuated.
In a statement by the Press Secretary of the ministry Taiwo Okalanwon, stated that the commissioner made this known when she paid an unscheduled visit to Itakudima, Zuban Area, in Ilorin West Local Government, to assess the volume of wastes at the illegal dumpsite in the area.
The visit was part of the state government’s efforts to curtail illegal dumpsites, especially in the Ilorin metropolis.
The Commissioner, who was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Dupe Adekeye, noted that the waste has constituted a big threat, as well as posing a serious danger to the people living in the area.
Banigbe explained that the visit will enhance the prompt attention of the state government’s intervention team to evacuate the refuse on time.
