The people of Kulende Community has accussed the commissioner for works and transport honourable Rotimi Ilyasu of being the mastermind behind the demolition of some ongoing community project being executed by the interim Chairman of Ilorin South Local Government Prince Zubair Sulu Gambari.
The residents who are expressed dismay with the development, urged the governor to investigate and reveal the identity of whom directed what they described as insensitive demolition given the huge resources that had been committed to the projects.
One of the elder in the community while speaking with our reporter Alhaji Abdulkodir Yakub said the buildings, comprising of a 120 seater multipurpose Hall, two functional restrooms and four toilets was built by late Governor Mohammed Lawal before they had an agreement with the present TIC chairman, who promised to turn the building to a modern one.
Yakub, who said the community had turned down the request of the past administration to rebuild the place later accepted the current administration to demolish the properties and turned it to modern building.
According to him ” To the surprise of the community, some people identified as Town Planning Officers in company of security personnel stormed the construction site to halt the work and demolished the buildings that were already on the verge of completion,”.
The community, who alleged that the state ministry of Works under Engineer Rotimi Iliasu ordered the demolition of the projects added that the disagreement between the duo of Engr Rotimi and the TIC chairman must have caused the sad development.
Efforts made by our Correspondent to get the reaction of the commissioner proved abortive as called put across to him was not responded to neither did he reply sms sent to his phone.
