The Gubernatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State, Alh. Shuaibu Abdullahi Yaman has said that the 2023 elections in the state are about sustainable development and people’s welfare and not primordial sentiments and propaganda.
In a statement by his media and strategy office in Ilorin on Sunday, Alh. Yaman challenged the APC-led administration in the state to tell kwarans why “our pupils still study under trees and dilapidated classrooms despite N14.2b funding for SUBEB and N18.6b federal government infrastructural support for the state on road, education and health”.
In addition, rather than engage in spinning unnecessary political propaganda through some faceless groups, Yaman asked Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazak to tell kwarans what happened to the N6.5b allocated to education from the 35b bond hastily collected without enough room for kwarans to deliberate on it.
“The government should tell kwarans what it has done with the unprecedented loans it has collected without proportionate infrastructural development in the state”, he alleged.
According to the gubernatorial hopeful, kwarans can no longer be deceived by the hasty and window-dressing road rehabilitation embarked upon on the eve of the Ileya festival just to deceive our brothers and sisters coming home for the celebration.
“This election is not between Yaman and any other candidate, it is an election for the future of this and the coming generations.
It’s a struggle against profligacy and ineptitude. It is a battle against lawlessness and executive rascality”, Yaman said.
“For the record”, Yaman said, “As the Danmansani of Shonga, I have contributed and still contributing to the community’s development and capacity growth.
“Whether I’m home or not now does not translate to anything less or more for the community having done the needful prior to the celebration”.
