The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to work out modalities towards establishing modern markets for transaction of specific goods or items in different parts of the state.
Other lawmakers in their contributions stressed the need for other parts of the state to benefit from the new Master Plan in the establishment of new markets to ensure equity in resources allocation.
Reading the resolutions of the House, Speaker, Hon Yakubu Salihu urged the State Governor to direct all Local Governments and Ministries to liase with the Kwara State Geographic Information System to make establishment of modern markets in different parts of the state a reality.
The speaker also called on the leadership of Market Associations to sensitize their members on dangers inherent in conversion of access roads and other facilities in the markets to other uses in contravention of the Master Plans.
