The Kwara state government has once again urged residents of the state embrace the Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape, ACReSAL, project as part of its efforts at tackling climate change.
Commissioner for Environment Hon. Remilekun Banigbe chairman state steering committee, ACReSAL, made the call today at a one day sensitisation workshop organised for stakeholders held on Ilorin the Kwara State capital.
Remilekun Banigbe said the project would restore one million hectares of degraded lands in Northern Nigeria which the sate is part of, and the commitment of the state government which made one of the first state to access the 2 million dollars grant from the world bank for the project.
In his own remarks the state coordinator of ACReSAL Engr. Zubair Oloruntoyin while talking about the gains of the project said it’s essence is to ensure reclamation of degraded lands as a result of climate change.
He said the state office has put in place a multi sectoral measure as highlighted by the world bank and carrying out sensitization of benefiting communities to ensure the project succeed.
