The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kwara State Wing, has fixed Wednesday, 14th May 2025, for the conduct of its Quadrennial Branch Delegates Conferences across the sixteen local government areas of the state.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Yusuf Wahab Agboola, and the Principal Assistant Secretary-General, Moni Mike Modesty Itua, made available to Sobi FM .

According to the statement, the conferences are being held to elect new executive councils at the local branch level following the expected expiration of the tenure of the current executives.

The Union disclosed that a total of thirteen executive members will be elected in each of the sixteen branches during the conferences, marking a significant leadership transition at the grassroots level of the NUT in the state.

The NUT leadership added that no fewer than 4,250 teachers from primary, junior, and senior secondary schools are expected to participate as official delegates in the elections across the state.

The statement further assured stakeholders that all arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process in line with the Union’s constitution and democratic principles.

The Kwara State Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers reiterated its commitment to promoting unity, professionalism, and the welfare of teachers in the state, noting that the forthcoming elections will serve as a fresh opportunity to build on past achievements and address new challenges facing educators.

The Union called on all delegates and stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and uphold the values of fairness and integrity during the electoral process.
