About 270 intending pilgrims from Kwara State today disrupted activities at Ilorin International Airport, protesting the delay in their flight to Saudi Arabia.
Our Correspondent gathered that the pilgrims began their protest around 4:00 pm, blocking the Ilorin/Ogbomoso/Ibadan Expressway with various objects and shutting the gate leading to the airport.
The protesters obstructed the movement of vehicles along the expressway, preventing entry and exit from the airport.
One of the protesters, Sadudeen Alapo, alleged that they had been at the Ilorin Hajj camp for the past five days without any provision of an aircraft.
He mentioned that an aircraft was brought last night but was later reported to have developed faults.
In response, the Kwara state Amir Hajj, Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe, explained that the aircraft intended to transport the pilgrims developed technical issues.
He stated that the board had called for another airline, which is expected to airlift the pilgrims later today.
