The Kwara State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ejire Adeyemi-Toun, has called on residents of the state to assist the police in preventing crime and criminality by providing timely information.
The PPRO made call while featuring on a Sobi FM program Home Front today in Ilorin , saying the appeal comes amid the ongoing efforts of the police to combat cult-related clashes and other forms of criminality in the state.
DSP Adeyemi-Toun emphasized the importance of community cooperation in the fight against crime, stating that residents play a key role in maintaining peace and safety in Kwara State.
“To effectively curb criminal activities, we need the active support and vigilance of the public. By supplying us with prompt and accurate information, residents can help the police take swift action against crime and protect their communities,” she said.
The PPRO also reiterated that on no condition should a police officer under the command check a citizen’s mobile phone on the roadside under the guide if stop and search.
” Police authorities have imposed restrictions on police officers who harass and extort citizens, during stop and search, causing the people to abhor distrust towards the police.
“The command has been working tirelessly to improve its relationship with the civil populace, I want to urge residents to report any cases of harassment, extortion and any police misconduct to the nearest police division or through her office.
DSP Ejire urged residents to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the police without delay, assuring them that their identities would be kept confidential.
She reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and maintaining law and order across Kwara.
