The Kwara State Government has refuted claims that farmers are required to pay for agricultural inputs distributed last Friday.
In a statement released today by the press Secretary ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development Olusola Temple, quoted the Special Assistant to the Governor on Farmers Intervention Hon. Suleiman Abdullahi Salihu Belle, maintained that these inputs are provided free of charge to all legitimate indigenous farmers in the state, including those in Laduba, Asa Local Government, and other local government areas.
“The Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, wishes to inform the general public that we have not and will never ask any farmer to pay a dime to collect the agricultural inputs. The inputs are free for all real indigenous farmers in Kwara State,” the statement read.
Hon. Belle also cautioned that any individual or group found spreading false information or engaging in fraudulent activities related to the distribution of agricultural inputs will face severe legal consequences.
“The government is committed to ensuring that these vital resources reach the farmers without any undue hindrance,” he added.
