The MOK Foundation has paid the WAEC fees for 200 students across Kwara State, providing them with an opportunity to pursue their academic goals without financial hindrances.
The initiative, which continues the foundation’s commitment to education and empowerment, was unveiled during an event in Offa.
The Executive Director of the foundation, Mr. Saheed Lawal, described the selection process as rigorous and transparent, with beneficiaries drawn from various public schools in the state.
He noted that the foundation collaborated with school administrators and local education authorities to identify students who were financially constrained.
“We have made this intervention to alleviate the financial burden on families and give these students a chance to excel academically. We encourage them to come out in flying colours,” he said.
He added that the payment of WAEC fees by the MOK Foundation has brought relief to many families, allowing the students to focus on their studies without financial worry.
The treasurer of the Kwara State chapter of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPS), Mr. Oyawoye O.O., commended the foundation for its impactful gesture.
According to him “this initiative will significantly ease the financial burden on families and encourage students to focus on their studies. We are truly grateful to the MOK Foundation for their unwavering support,” he said.
Delivering a lecture titled Illuminating the Future, the proprietor of Lens Polytechnic, Offa, Dr. Azeez Yisa, advised parents to allow their children to choose careers aligned with their interests and convictions.
Sharing his personal story to inspire the students, Dr. Yisa lauded the founder of the MOK Foundation, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, for his dedication to education.
In an unexpected move, Dr. Yisa announced a full tertiary education scholarship at Lens Polytechnic for one of the WAEC scholarship beneficiaries.
The President of the Offa Descendants Union (ODU), Home Branch, Chief Lanre Shittu, praised the foundation for its continuous efforts in uplifting the community.
He prayed for the longevity of the foundation’s founder and urged the students to remain good ambassadors of their homes during and after their examinations.
The event attracted dignitaries from across Kwara State, including educationists, traditional leaders, principals, and teachers.
