The newly appointed State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode, has set a five-point agenda for himself in office to strengthen the internal democracy mechanism and reposition the party for victory in the state.
Abdulrahman made his agenda public on his social media handle shortly after he was officially announced as the Party’s State Secretary in Kwara State and took the oath of office in Ilorin Secretariat.
Abdulrahman said as the life wire of the party, he hopes to carry out his duties in line with the party’s constitution, serve as a bridge between existing and new members, as well as enhance the functionality of the party secretariat.
He also pledged to digitize the activities of all party offices in the state and work with other executive members with the major aim of winning future elections.
The state secretary said, “I want to assure you that I’ll strictly adhere to my official roles as stipulated in the party’s constitution which includes; ensuring meetings are effectively organised and minuted, liaising with the Chairman to plan meetings, receiving agenda items from committee members, circulating agendas and reports, circulating approved minutes, checking that agreed actions are carried out promptly.
“I will serve as a strong bridge between the old and young party members and those newly coming into the party. I shall ensure and enhance the functionality of all the 3 senatorial districts, 16 LGAs, and 193 wards secretariats in the state.
“As the General Secretary of our great party in Kwara, I also pledge to work in cooperation with other executive members in driving the state secretariat according to their purviews, and digitize the activities of each office in the state working committee towards having a viable database that is capable of winning future elections for the party.”
While noting that no member or arm of the party can accomplish the task alone, he called on elders and fellow young members of the PDP in Kwara to join hands together towards providing the needed opposition capable of dislodging the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and making life better for Kwarans.
“My engineering background taught me that a team is like a toolset; not one tool can do all the jobs, but together they can. So, my elders; fathers and mothers, and fellow young members of PDP in Kwara, let’s join hands together to work with team spirit in the day-to-day functioning of our great party in providing the needed opposition capable of putting the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) government on its toes and rekindling the hope of the masses in Kwara that PDP is the best option to take them out of the hardship brought upon them by the APC.
Abdulrahman thanked the leadership of the party led by its national leader and President of the 8th Nigeria Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON, the State Working Committee, executives, elders, stakeholders, and members of the party for finding him worthy of the position at the state party secretariat and promised not to fail the confidence reposed in him.
“Your collective support demonstrates that you trust me to be your voice, and I cannot thank you enough for your trust. I pledge to take us to greater heights and to complete all of the goals in my set agenda,” he said.
