Members of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) have elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.

The election, held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Mike Okiro Press Centre in Ikeja, Lagos, brought together journalists from across major media organisations covering Nigeria’s security and justice sectors.

In a show of confidence and continuity, Olalekan Olabulo of the Nigerian Tribune was re-elected as President, for a second and final tenure.

Also re-elected were Evelyn Usman of Vanguard as Vice President, Chiemelie Ezeobi of ThisDay as Treasurer (unopposed), Ismaila Oguntade of Leadership as Financial Secretary, and Taiwo Jimoh of New Telegraph who returned as the Public Relations Officer and Auditor, both positions also unopposed.

The new Secretary is Joshua Uloko of City Pride Newspaper, while Titilope Joseph of Daily Independent was elected into the secretariat team.

Legal practitioner, Barrister Yinka Sanni, administered the oath of office to the new leadership, urging them to uphold the constitution of the association and the ethics of the journalism profession.

Sanni reminded the new executive team of their responsibility to uphold integrity, professionalism, and solidarity in carrying out their mandate.

CRAN, is the umbrella body for journalists covering crime, security, and justice in Nigeria, and it continues to play a critical role in promoting accurate reportage and accountability in the country’s security landscape.
