A former Guber candidate in the 2019 election in Kwara state and the North Central Co-ordinator, Tinubu Support Organisation, Mallam AbdulAzeez Yinka Oniyangi, will feature as Guest Speaker at the 34th Media Parliament of the Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Themed “2023: Beyond Ethno-religious Card”, the event will hold on Tuesday, 23rd of August, 2022 at NUJ Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin at 11am.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, the Chairman and Secretary of Kwara NUJ Media Parliament Committee, Fatimah Rasheed and Babajide Fadeyi respectively, said the imperative of the theme cannot be divorced from the recent steam generated in the polity preparatory to the forthcoming general elections.
The statement explained that the country being in the transition period required to be critically dissected, especially on issues arising to enable the citizens make informed choices about the new set of leaders that would be recruited at different layers of governance.It added that the forum would also afford Mallam Yinka Oniyangi, a 2019 governorship candidate in Kwara State, the opportunity to speak plausibly on the same faith ticket, which had since stirred up debates for or against certain political parties in the 2023 polls.
The statement stated that the selection of the North Central Co-ordinator of Tinubu Support Organisation, who is also President/Chief Executive Officer, Swift Air Ambulance Services Ltd, was predicated on his colossal experience from the private sector.
It further noted that the media parliament would avail the Guest Speaker a forum to interact with top-rated media practitioners with a view to, in turn, informing, enlightening and educating Nigerians as well as bridging the yawning information gap between the policy makers and members of the public.
The statement urged members of the state council of NUJ across all Chapels to prepare adequately for the event and attend promptly.
