The Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State has advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to be decived into commissioning uncompleted project in the state by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq when he visits the state next week.
Director General of the Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council, Prof. Ali Ahmad made this known while addressing newsmen today in Ilorin, where he called on President Buhari to distance and himself from the alleged fraudulent act by the state governor.
He stated that the party is rasing the alarm due to the fact that it is customary for state governors to seize the opportunity to get the President to commission completed projects to demonstrate that the government is working to serve the people.
Ali Ahmad who is a former speaker of the state house of assembly described the action as a ploy by the governor to save himself of the embarrassment of having his failures become a topic of national discourse when the President visits and finds no noteworthy project for commissioning.
According to him “Kwarans should be worried and ask questions on why Gov AbdulRazaq APC-led government could not maintain that legacy that we have built. Today, the governor has not assented to the 2023 budget. And this is undoubtedly bringing Kwara backwards.
The question we are asking today is What tangible project has this present administration commissioned in Kwara state? Nothing. Look at Imo and Ogun governors, they are both first-term APC governors.
“They have all invited the President for project commissioning on more than two occasions within their first four years in office. But nothing has been done here in Kwara. Despite the bonds, grants, and loans Gov. AbdulRazaq received over the years, it is unfortunate that nothing can be shown for it. All the roads he renovated are not up to 10km in total.
“In other states, we heard about 50km of road projects and 500 units of housing projects are being constructed by their governors. We haven’t had it so bad as this in Kwara State spending four years without a single project. What is impressive about that,” he queried.
Prof Ali Ahmad thereafter advised that the president should visit Kwara State for his campaign, deliver his message to the electorate, and leave without being stained with the falsehood concocted by the state government.
