The Kwara State Police command have banned all forms of unlawful protest, rally or gathering across the State.
In a statement, by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi and copiesade available to newsmen today in Ilorin , said the temporary ban became inevitable owing to intelligence reports indicating that hoodlums have perfected plans to hijack any rally or procession.
The statement claimed that hoodlums were planning to use the process to “cause chaos and jeopardise the current fragile peace in the state and the country “.
It also said the temporary ban was meant to “evaluate and assess” the security situation in the state.
The statement advised leaders of political parties to “warn their supporters to desist from circulating statements that are capable of inflaming crisis”.
