A heavy rainfall that lasted several hours from Tuesday night to early Wednesday morning in Ilorin the Kwara State capital has destroyed many properties worth millions of naira at Owode, Ipata Oloje in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The heavy downpour which began around 11pm, till 2:00am resulted in the over flowing of the river behind Mount Camel College, Ilorin.
Sobi FM Correspondent, who visited the community report that the heavy rainfall destroyed many houses and washed away fish farms and ponds in the community.
The Chairman of Owode Community, Mallam Sanusi Sule Obadongari noted that community had spent a lot of digging the river to allow free flow but the river has overflow again, appealing to the state government to assist them to channel through Idi-Ogede area.
Other victims, who spoke to our correspondent also appealed to the the state government to assist them, saying many of them have no place to sleep because they can not afford to repair the house damaged by the flood.
