The Kwara South Senatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the 2023 general elections Professor Wale Sulaiman, CON, has stated that he resigned from the current administration in the state, because the governor reneged on all his campaign promises.
Speaking with Sobi FM at the official flag off of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, campaign in Kwara South said the APC government is working for a handful of some selected people.
Sulaiman who had resigned his appointment in August 2020 via a letter titled, “My Resignation as Special Adviser on Health Matters to Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Prof. Wale Sulaiman,” said he resigned so that he could concentrate on his private business and foundation, RNZ Global Limited, where he serves as Chief Executive Officer/President.
“My passion in life is to create opportunities where there are none, and to give hope to the underprivileged, using my skills, expertise, and professional network.
“I had hoped that I could accomplish these goals as a public servant, but came to the realisation that I will be more effective and productive out of government,” the statement reads.
Professor Sulaiman talking about the real reason for his resignation said most of the people who left the current APC government in the state would have stayed out if they don’t have the love of the people at heart.
According to him, ” All of us could have stayed put with the rulling government if we don’t care about the people, but we have to leave because things are not done the way it should and we have to work to
“The government has derailed from all the promises they made to the people in 2019.
“Poverty is prevalent in the state where about 70 percent if the population is living in squalor, the issue of poverty , poor health care high rate of unemployment and the education sector is nothing to write home about,” he said.
Prof Sulaiman said the SDP is a party that is divinely created to bring the state to the next level and bring good tidings to the people of Kwara state.
“SDP as a party is coming to correct all the anomalies of the past and current administration in the state, we will ensure that the people get what is due to them.
“We are working collectively as a group under the leadership of our gubernatorial candidate Hakeem Lawal, he said.
Prof Sulaiman while speaking about his chances at the poll said he is the most qualified to occupy the seat of Kwara South Senatorial districts because of his antecedents and track records.
“About 5000 people including some of those who are vying for this same position as mine and even current political holders were screened for the National Honours award, but after considering antecedents and track records, I was picked and conferred with the honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).
“This is a confirmation that I have all it takes to improve the socioeconomic development of our region through effective legislation.
“My tenure as senator if elected will facilitate more Infrastructural development, increase revenue, create job opportunities, and sponsoring of bills that will improve our health sector in Kwara south,” he promised.
