The Rectors of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Dr. Ademola Ebeloku, and the Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Dr. Samson Adegoke, have commended QS Oyetunde Oyelola, Director of Physical Planning at the Federal Polytechnic, for his consistent leadership in organizing the institution’s Annual Lecture Series.

The commendation was given during the 8th Annual Lecture held on Wednesday at the Twin Auditorium of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.

In his remarks, Dr. Ademola Ebeloku praised the Directorate of Physical Planning for maintaining the tradition of hosting the lecture series, which has contributed to the growth of the institution.

“Let me also congratulate the Outgoing Director, QS Oyetunde Oyelola, whose terminal leave will end anytime soon, for a job well done at the Directorate and for initiating this event,” Ebeloku said.

He also acknowledged Oyelola’s dedication to ensuring that the Directorate solely organized the event without seeking external support from the institution’s management.

Dr. Samson Adegoke, who delivered the lecture titled “Leveraging Outsourcing as a Strategic Option for Infrastructure Provision and Efficient Service Delivery in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria,” praised QS Oyelola as a visionary leader and close friend since their undergraduate days at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Adegoke highlighted the benefits of outsourcing in addressing issues like inadequate funding, decaying infrastructure, and inefficient service delivery in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

He noted that outsourcing could lead to cost savings, access to specialized expertise, and improved focus on core institutional activities like teaching and research.

However, he cautioned against potential challenges such as over-dependence on vendors and conflicts of interest.

Earlier, in his welcome address, QS Oyelola emphasized the significance of the Annual Lecture Series in fostering dialogue on the construction industry and promoting the role of the Directorate of Physical Planning.

He noted that under his leadership, the Directorate successfully completed 28 projects, including building, road, and water projects, with eight additional projects still ongoing.

Oyelola expressed gratitude to the Pioneer Rector, Prof. Emmanuel Fasakin, and the current Rector, Dr. Ademola Ebeloku, for their support in creating an enabling environment for him to deliver quality work.

During the event, QS Oyelola, along with some contractors, was presented with awards in recognition of their contributions to the polytechnic’s development. The presentation was done by Chief Engineer Olubunmi, on behalf of the Directorate of Physical Planning.

The Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Engr Emmanuel Amipitan, also appreciated the presence of Principal Officers, Deans, Heads of Departments, and other guests at the lecture.
