The Turaki of Ilorin and the APC candidate for the Kwara Central Senatorial district in the 2023 general elections Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has donated money for the immediate completion of the long abandoned Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Injection 33kva Sub-Station at Kunlende area of Ilorin.

On completion, the electrification project is expected to boost electricity supply by a record 17 hours daily to Kunlende/Royal Valley/Idi-Igba/Akerebiata/Gambari and Sango communities in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

It would be recalled that the power project had been abandoned since 2017, thus prompting Mustapha through his foundation, the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, to intervene with a view to stemming the tide of erratic power supply in the area and in turn stimulate the economy of residents and shop owners, who depended solely on electricity supply.

Speaking on the development in a statement jointly signed by , the Chairman of Gambari-Sango-Akerebiata communities, Alhaji Ahmed Toyin Kaduna, and the Secretary, Alhaji Adelodun Lukman Yusuf, said the completion of the long abandoned sub-station would go a long way to improve the living standard of the people of the benefiting communities.

The Communities which commended Mallam Saliu Mustapha for his swift intervention in attending to the plights of the people of the communities said it would be the first time a non-public office holder would solely finance such a big project,

Meanwhile The Turaki of Ilorin, who spoke through one of his aides, Mallam Sulyman Buhari, said the intervention is in continuation of his actionable philanthropy across Ilorin communities.

“We don’t always have to wait on the government before intervening in critical community projects that have direct impacts on the socio-economic advancement of the people at the grassroots.

This, he said, was the motivation for the approval of funds required to fix the injection sub-station to complement the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration in the State to improve electricity supply to the communities towards enhancing their socioeconomic activities and increase their access to basic facilities.

Am from the same Ward with turaki of ilorin, at gambari Ward 1, I disagree with this. Mallam soliu mustapha didn’t donate any amount for power sub-station supplying. All communities contribute money from each area. If Yes why they not return money for those who contribute money since. You are now said mallam soliu mustapha donate money for who promise and fail
