As Muslim faithful prepare for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, major markets within the Ilorin metropolis witnessed a mammoth crowds with the price of food items, especially semo rice and others staples in the market.
Sobi FM Correspondent, who visited the markets in Ilorin reports that price of rams and other perishable food items like tomatoes, pepper and others were costly in the market while rice, semo, Gari and others still maintain its low cost.
Mallam Abdullateef from the Mandate Market Ilorin, who spoke to our correspondent Toyin Saheed said many people trooped to the market to buy food items at a very low cost on like the previous month when the prices of food items were high.
Also speaking, the Babaloja of Mandate Market Alhaji Muritala Tanbaruku, explained that the price of rams ranges from sixty thousands naira to four hundred thousand naira while that of cow begins from one hundred and twenty thousand naira upward.
The Chairman of Tax force of the Kwara State marketers Association and a dealer of tomatoes explained that the price of tomatoes are still costly in the market due to heavy raining season period, which has cost damages to many tomato farmers in the north.
