PDP national leader and former Senate President Bukola Saraki has lauded women for the roles they play in the socio-political development of Kwara, describing them as indispensable.
A statement released by Saraki’s Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir Shooto, noted that the Waziri Ngeri of Ilorin made this known while receiving PDP women from Kwara central.
The women who thronged the Ilorin residence of the party’s national leader, to celebrate Sallah with him also reaffirm their support for his leadership. It will be recalled that the former Senate President has been hosting different categories of people including community leaders, groups and party loyalists, at his residence since his arrival for the Salah celebration.
While assuring the women of his support, Saraki urged them to be steadfast, united, focused, and well coordinated, to ensure that the PDP emerges victorious at all levels in the 2023 general elections in the state.
“I have always appreciated the key roles you play within the party and in government, and that is why I always ensure that you take a place of pride in whatever we do. I put my trust in you Kwara women and I know with your support and concerted effort, we will win,” he said.
He also assured the women that the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, if elected, will prioritise the welfare of the people and infrastructural development of the state.
Some of the women who took turn to speak, appreciated Saraki for his care, generosity and leadership role all the time, just as they assured him of their unalloyed support. Also speaking, the PDP flag bearer, Yaman expressed delight at meeting the women in their large number, saying he was amazed by the passion and enthusiasm they exhibit.
He promised to always prioritize their concerns. “I must confess to you that I was moved to tears when I entered and saw the number of women here today.
It reminds me of Baba Saraki’s days when the political strength lies in the women.”You have also given me more confidence and hope that the era of misrule of the APC is over in Kwara come 2023,”he said.
