The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has felicitated the former Head, Department of Communication, University of Ilorin Dr Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, on her emergence as a member of the NIPR Governing Council.
In a statement issued in Ilorin through his media office, Mustapha who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development, said the election of the renowned mass communication scholar, and communication expert is a testament to her commitment to professionalism and dedication to teaching, community services and human relations.
The legislator, rejoiced with the Kwara State government, Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, people of Ilorin Emirate and the Salah’s family on the feat.
Mustapha , however, challenged Dr Saudat Abdulbaqi to use her vast experience and expertise in Public Relations as well as her accomplishments in the academia in the discharge of her duties and wished her lofty heights in future endeavours.
In a related development the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated Dr Abdulbaqi, on her election.
In a congratulatory message, the state NUJ Chairman, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and the Secretary, Comrade Omotayo Ayanda, said the emergence of Dr Abdulbaqi is a manifestation of her outstanding contributions to scholarship and humanity.
The union stressed that the untiring efforts of the communication expert in promoting academic excellence and public relations earned her a prominent position in the NIPR’s governing board.
“As a dedicated educator in the Ilorin Study Centre of the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Dr Abdulbaqi has positively impacted the lives of countless students and professionals.
“Her commitment to fostering knowledge and expertise in the realm of communication is evident in her accomplishments”, the statement said.
The union expressed delight over Dr Abdulbaqi’s attainments, stating “We take immense pride in the recognition of your expertise and contributions.
“Your election serves as a testament to your dedication and commitment to the scholarly and professional paths you have chosen. We are confident that your insights and perspectives would greatly enrich the works of the NIPR,”.
Similarly the Sobi FM Chapel of the NUJ has felicitated with Dr. Abdulbaqi on her election as a member of the Governing Council of the NIPR.
The Chapel in a statement jointly signed by the chairman Comrade Dare Akogun and Secretary Comrade Hameedah Oladmeji-Kolawole, described the election as a recognition of her years of service as a communicator expert.
The statement said the chapel identified this in 2021 where she was given an award of excellence during the celebration of the chapel’s Annual press week.
The Chapel described the former Head of Department Mass communication University of Ilorin as a brilliant scholar who’s contributions to humanity outside her core profession as unrivaled.
It recalled how in her role as the coordinator of Coordinator of NIPR in Kwara state took it upon her self to ensure that Sobi FM Chapel Dare Akogun and his brother were released when they were remanded and also led the conflict resolution team that led to the resolution of the issue between the Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye and the Akogun brothers.
This is one of the numerous virtues that stands her out as a communicator, whose consistent service to humanity and remarkable hard work is being rewarded.
“We pray almighty Allah continue to bestow upon her knowledge, wisdom and good health to perform in her new role,” it stated.
