The Sardaunan Ilorin Legacy Platform (SILEP), in collaboration with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), State Information Chapel, has announced the commencement of the “Impactful Media Workshop” themed “Propagation and Documentation of Government Policies and Programmes: Renewed Role of Press Secretaries.”
The workshop, aimed at equipping press secretaries and media practitioners with essential skills for effectively promoting and documenting government initiatives, will feature a keynote address by a distinguished veteran journalist, and public relations expert, Alhaji Saadu Salahu fnipr, the Senior Adviser and Counselor to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Sardauna of Ilorin.
Hon. Bolanle Olukoju, the Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, will deliver a special address as the Most Distinguished Host of the capacity-building programme.
The event is set to attract dignitaries, including top government officials, legislators, academics, media administrators, and executives of non-governmental organisations, who will grace the inaugural session of this significant programme.
In a joint statement, Biodun Abdulkareem, Chairman of the Organising Committee and Coordinator of SILEP, and Adamu Usman, Committee Secretary and Chairman of NUJ, State Information Chapel, emphasised the critical role of press secretaries in enhancing transparency, promoting government policies, and enhancing public trust.
The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, 12 December, 2024, at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Ministry of Communications, Ahmadu Bello Way, Ilorin, starting at 11:00 a.m.
This collaborative initiative by SILEP and NUJ demonstrate their commitment to strengthening the media’s capacity in supporting governance through effective communication and documentation.
