Sobi FM’s senior and award-winning editor, Dare Akogun, has landed in Egypt, to cover the forthcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, UNFCCC, commonly tagged “COP27”.
His accreditation was concluded, and participation was confirmed, last week in an email, sent by the UNFCCC IBC Manager, Tim Davies, in which he indicated that one Workstation had been reserved for SOBI FM at the Media Centre of the event.
It would be recalled that Sobi FM reported last week, it has emerged as the only Nigerian radio station to cover the conference, beginning tomorrow, the 6th to 18th of November, 2022.
Akogun who took off from the Muritala Mohammed International Airport Lagos at about 3 pm Nigerian time, arrived in Egypt, after about 5 hours flight, and will be on the ground to give live reports, on the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference, that will hold in the coastal town of Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, beginning from Sunday, 6th of November.
Climate change is a long-term shift in temperatures and weather patterns, that seems to affect the quality of the environment, in negative ways, such that it becomes a matter of grave concern to world leaders, who have tried to limit those human activities that contribute to it.
Some of the adverse effects of climate change are, excessive rainfall, resulting in over-flooding, as recently witnessed in Nigeria recently, or acute lack of rain (draught) in some parts of the world.
