A leading Pro-Democracy group, Kwara Must Change has strongly declared that there is no place for terrorism, violence, or insecurity in Kwara State.

In a statement released over the weekend by the Convener of Kwara Must Change, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, the group urged all Kwarans to rise to the challenge of securing their environment by becoming extensions of security agencies, committed to reporting suspicious activities and standing against criminality in all forms.

Responding to recent media reports suggesting the emergence of a new terrorist group in North Central Nigeria, Kwara Must Change noted that there is no new terrorist group in Kwara State. The group explained that the so-called new group is nothing more than displaced Boko Haram elements on the run, attempting to infiltrate relatively peaceful areas.

“These criminals are not new. They are fleeing terrorists from other regions trying to regroup and irrespective of who they are or what they call themselves, Kwara will not be a hiding place for terrorists,” the statement affirmed.

Kwara Must Change emphasized that the people must be more alert than ever, stressing that the peace and stability of the state must be protected at all costs.

The group called on traditional institutions, youth organizations, and community leaders to work closely with law enforcement and resist any form of intimidation or compromise.

“Security is not just the duty of soldiers and police officers. It is our collective responsibility. Kwara must remain a no go area for terrorists, kidnappers, and criminal gangs.”

Kwara Must Change reaffirmed its commitment to mobilizing public consciousness, encouraging grassroots vigilance, and partnering with all stakeholders to ensure Kwara continues to be a beacon of peace in the region.
