A car accident at Shasha Market on the Akure-Owo road in Ondo state has left three people dead and twelve others with varying degrees of injuries.
According to eyewitness reports, the accident involved an Ash coloured Toyota Sienna bus with registration number LND778YG and an Ash coloured Hummer bus with the registration number KTN 298 YJ on a head on collision around 5:30am.
“The driver of the Toyota Sienna attempted to overtake a trailer on the single lane highway when he collided with the Hummer bus coming from Lagos State,” one eyewitness claimed.
Three people were killed and 12 injured in the collision, according to Ezekiel SonAllah, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) sector commander for Ondo State.
According to SonAllah, the deceased bodies were put at the hospital morgue while the injured victims’ bodies were transferred to General Hospital, Akure for medical attention.
In light of the dangers involved in night travel, he urged the general people to refrain from doing so.
He said: “Drivers are strongly encouraged to refrain from exceeding the posted speed limit. Speed limit devices must be installed by all vehicle owners, but notably by commercial drivers.
