Top Star Publishing Limited, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, today organised one-day Free seminar on phonetics teaching for primary schools across the State, with the theme; “Using Phonetics to Teach Elementary Reading”.
The training was designed for the proprietor and one English Language teacher from each of the schools, in what could be described as “Train the Trainers”, after which a certificate of participation was issued to about 500 attendees.
The guest lecturer, was Professor Stephen Billy Olajide, of the Department of Arts Education, University of Ilorin; Chairman of the occasion, Professor Shehu Adaramaja, Chairman, Kwara SUBEB, while the Special Guest of Honour was, Mrs. Mary Adeosun, the Permanent Secretary, Kwara State Ministry Education and Human Capital Development.
The Chairman, CEO, Top Star Publishing Limited, Pastor J.F Omotayo, in an exclusive interview with Sobi FM’s Adebayo Abubakar, spoke about what motivated him into organising the seminar.
The representative of Mrs. Mary Kemi Adeosun, the Permanent Secretary, ministry of Education and human capital, Hajjia Raji R.F, Director of Curriculum and Assessment, in the Ministry, said, what Top Star Publishing Limited did is in line with the policy of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, while admonishing other publishing companies in the state to emulate Top Star Publishing limited with this kind of gesture.
One of the participants, Mrs. Akintoye Folasade, the proprietress, Rock Spring Learning Centre, summarised the feelings of most of those who benefitted from the seminar.
The event took place at the Saint Joseph Catholic Nursery and Primary School Hall, GRA Ilorin, also had in attendance representative of the executive chairman, KWASUBEB, Professor Shehu Adaramaja, among other dignitaries.
