A 500 level Law Student of the University of Ilorin, UNILORIN, Ambassador Abdurrazaq Gidado, has won the MWAPE PEER Awards.

The Mwape Peer Awards, was established in 2010 by Ruth and James Mwape, of New Jersey, USA.

This non-profit initiative was part of the couple’s plan to give back to the people by providing a platform to recognize those individuals who, without the benefit of visibility or influence, made a difference through their creativity, energy and sheer tenacity.

Initially, the prestigious awards were given to the Zambian unsung heroes and heroines only, giving the background of the founders.

However, in 2014, it was opened up to all Africans in and outside Africa. The latest award ceremony was held in the United States of America, New York.

The initiative prides itself in promoting, acknowledging and recognizing the outstanding efforts by Africans at home and the diaspora.

The awards are in various categories, Gidado won the ‘Diplomatic Excellence’ category.
A category that is basically meant to appreciate the efforts of individuals who have strived for the greater good in various fields across borders.

Winning the category is more daunting because it was awarded for the first time in 13 years, meaning that Gidado is the first winner in that category.

The Illustrious Youth Ambassador won the category on the recognition of his marvelous work in Ending Global Education Crisis.

Gidado, a Global Youth Ambassador at ‘Theirworld’, a Global Children Charity committed to ending global Education Crisis, has notched several awards in various categories over the past 3 years.

He is a Member of Global Ambassadors For Sustainability. A global initiative meant to promote sustainability and build international Partnership.

This is one of the reasons he is passionate about Sustainable Development Goals; 3, 4 and 5, that is, Good Health Being, Quality Education and gender equality respectively.

Dauda Abdurrazaq Gidado has added to his records of several awards which include but not limited to: The Most Supportive Law Student in Nigeria 2020, Most Supportive Activist Human Rights Chamber Unilorin 2022, The Law Student of the Year, University of Ilorin, 2021, and the Most Promising Activist of Human Rights Chambers, University of Ilorin, 2019.

He was conferred the honor of the Commander Of The Order Of Law Student Association of Nigeria (COL) in 2021 and Senior Activist of Human Rights Chambers (SAHRC) 2022.
