The Kwara State Government has again implored both Cat and Dog owners to ensure the Vaccination of their animals.
This was contain in a press statement issued by the Press Secretary
Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Yusuf Ganiyu Adebisi, on behalf of the State Commissioner for Mallam Gidado AbdulLateef Alakawa to commemorate this year’s Word Rabies Day.
Every 28th of September is set aside to raise awareness and advocacy for rabies elimination globally and is being coordinated by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control and supported by the World Health Organization and Food and Agriculture Organization.
According to the Statement, Rabies is a preventable disease and control through vaccination of dogs and cats in our society being the major causes of rabies incidents.
The Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq in partnership with Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development embarked on a state wide anti rabies campaign in July this Year.
The statement also enjoined the owners of dogs and cats to take advantage of the ongoing free mass anti rabies vaccination by ensuring their animals is available at the State Government Area Veterinary Offices across the State and the Ministry Headquarters along Old Jebba road, Ilorin from 9am to 2pm every working days.
