Youth members under the aegis of the Oniyere Youth Development Forum organized a health outreach for the benefit of the Oniyere Community in Asa Local Government, Kwara State.
In a statement released by the Coordinator of the Outreach, Miss AbdulKareem Omowummi, she detailed that the outreach included services such as checking vitals, blood pressure monitoring, malaria testing, free medications, and medical consultations with doctors.
Omowummi emphasized that the outreach aimed to benefit all community members, though particular attention was given to the elderly.
The statement further assured that the initiative would be sustained to ensure the longevity and health of the elderly in the community.
Omowummi expressed her gratitude to the forum members who contributed financially and morally to the success of the event and specifically thanked Alhaji Isiak Akande for his physical support during the outreach.
According to the statement, one of the beneficiaries, Mr Salimon Ajadi, appreciated the youth for organizing the event, as it provided an opportunity for much-needed medical attention. Another beneficiary, Mrs. Abubakar Marufat, described the outreach as timely, given the prevalence of preventable medical complications.
“With an outreach such as this, we can meet with doctors, explain our challenges, and receive medications, all for free. We really appreciate our youths,” she added.
The traditional head of Oniyere Community, Alhaji Jimoh Atanda Yahyah thanked the youth for bringing such an event to the community and prayed for their long life and prosperity.
