The coalition of youths, elders and women of Afon Constituency in Asa Local Government have kicked against the imposition of Hon.Wahab Aliu Opakunle as the APC Candidate for the Afon house of assembly seat in the 2023 election.
The co-ordinator of the group Saheed Atanda while speaking with newsmen called on the state governor mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the APC State Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi to caution Dr Gali Ala’aya who he alleged is working to impose the Honourable Opakunle on the constituency.
He reminded the governor that in 1997 when the then Political Godfather in the state imposed a candidate on the people of Afon Constituency, the people revolted by voting against the candidate.
He however called on the APC to field a popular credible candidate that is young and ready to work with the people.
Speaking in the same vein on behalf of the women in Afon said the purported endorsement by unknown women group in the constituency as a fallacy, warning people in the constituency to stop using the name of the governor to perpetuate their illegality.
