In a bid to protect the health of unborn babies and ensure quality healthcare upon their birth, Hajia Maimunat Oloriegbe, the founder of the Matta Girls Foundation, has unveiled three newly established newborn corners across the three local governments comprising the Ilorin metropolis.

This is part of the Pharmacist council of Nigeria 2023 Capital project provision of newborn corner and mama kits for selected health facilities in Kwara state facilitaed by the wife of the immediate past Senator that represented Kwara central in the 9th Assembly Hajia Maimunat Oloriegbe.

The inauguration ceremony which took place at the Ero Omo Health Centre, Kilanko area where pregnant women were also provided with delivery kits.

The Matta Girls Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving maternal and child health, has been actively working towards creating a healthier future for pregnant women and newborns in the Ilorin metropolis.

The newly inaugurated newborn corners for pre term babies are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, including incubators, radiant warmers, and essential supplies necessary for the care of newborns.

The benefitting health centers are the
Ero Omo health center in Ilorin South, Cottage Hospital Adewole in Ilorin West and Oke suna health center in Ilorin East local government areas of the state. 

Hajia Maimunat Oloriegbe, while addressing the attendees at the inauguration ceremony, emphasized the importance of safeguarding the health of unborn babies and ensuring that they receive proper care from birth.

She expressed her gratitude to the community for their support and highlighted the need for both government and private individuals to come together and support initiatives aimed at improving maternal and child healthcare.

Hajia Maimunat Oloriegbe used the occasion to call upon the government and private individuals to extend their support to the Matta Girls Foundation in its mission to enhance maternal and child healthcare.

She also stressed that collective efforts are crucial at addressing the challenges faced by pregnant women and newborns, and to create a healthier society for future generations.

During the event, pregnant women in attendance were provided with delivery kits containing essential items needed during childbirth.

The kits, comprising sterile supplies, clothing, diapers, and about 16 other newborn essentials, will help ensure safer and more hygienic deliveries.

The inauguration of the newborn corners signifies a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve healthcare facilities for pregnant women and newborns in the Ilorin metropolis.

The Matta Girls Foundation’s dedication to this cause has garnered widespread appreciation and support from the local community, and it is hoped that their initiatives will inspire others to join in the mission of safeguarding the health and well-being of mothers and their babies.
