As part of its efforts to enhance environmental standards and regulations in Kwara State, National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA, has sought the collaboration of the Kwara state government in enforcing environmental laws in the state.

The NESREA State Director, Mrs. Aremu Anike Zainab made this known while she paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Solid Minerals, where she reiterated NESREA’s vision to foster an environmentally conscious society by regulating mining and quarry sites

“The agency’s role as a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Environment has pledged to work closely with the state to uphold environmental standards,” she said.

The courtesy visit, which served as a platform for both parties to discuss strategies for effective collaboration and enforcement of environmental regulations, was well attended by directors of the Ministry and other team members from NESREA

In his response the Commissioner for solid minerals AbdulQowiy Olododo,  expressed the state government’s commitment to collaborating with NESREA.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Funke Shokoya while highlighting the importance of synergy between the state and federal agencies as a way of achieving environmental goals, said this is geared towards ensuring sustainable development and the well-being of citizens.
