The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has posthumously awarded the late Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim (PhD) with the prestigious Award of Excellence, recognizing his outstanding philanthropy and dedicated service to his community and the nation.

In a ceremony held at the Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, Prof. Muritala Awodun and Bilal Ibrahim, son of the late Senator, received the national posthumous award on behalf of the family.

Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, the National Chairman of PCRC, lauded Senator Rafiu Ibrahim’s unwavering commitment to making a positive impact, stating that his legacy continues to inspire others despite his demise.

In a separate tribute, the Nigerian Senate, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, honored the late Senator Ibrahim for his exemplary service to the nation.

Senator Lola Ashiru of Kwara South moved the motion, prompting the Senate to observe a minute of silence in his memory.

The Senate acknowledged Senator Ibrahim’s legislative brilliance and his significant contributions to the development of Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole.

His pivotal role as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions was highlighted, with his legislative efforts recognized as catalysts for Nigeria’s advancement in the ease of doing business ranking.

The late Senator’s contributions were further underscored by his receipt of a Presidential Award of Excellence from the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in 2017 as a Reform Champion.
