The immediate past senator representing Kwara Central in the national assembly, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has commissioned and handed over a residential staff quarters designated for members of staff of the Comprehensive Health Centre, Idi-Isin, Okolowo, an annex of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

The construction of the fit-for-purpose staff accommodation was facilitated by the erstwhile lawmaker through the year 2023 budget to tackle some of the challenges that hinder the capacity of the health facility to deliver a 24-hour services as envisaged in the conception of its establishment.

Speaking at the handing over of the building, Dr Oloriegbe stated that the motive that inspired the establishment of the health facility, is to appreciate the health workers for their commitment to improved health service delivery and the overall well-being of the people.

The Senator highlighted the interventions he has thus far facilitated to the health facility to strengthen its capacity such as a dedicated powerline; tricycle ambulance; 33KVA generator; motorized borehole; medical equipment, and a host of others.

As a modest gesture to immortalize their deceased mother, the ex-lawmaker in conjunction with his younger brother, Bar. Abdulmajeed Oloriegbe set up a social intervention at the hospital with the sowing of the sum of one million Naira endowment fund, a commitment which he said would be observed annually to lessen the impact of out-of-pocket expenses is aimed at affording the indigent female patients access to effective and quality health services.

In his remark, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Prof Abdullah Da-Silva, represented by the Chief Medical Advisory Council of the institution, Prof. Biliyaminu Sikiru appreciated the Senator for his commitment to improving the quality of life through various health interventions in Kwara central.

He stated that the gesture will serve as a morale booster for health personnel and also enhance service delivery to the members of the public.
