In a commendable gesture aimed at facilitating seamless operations for journalists in Kwara State, Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, has successfully installed and activated an internet facility at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre.

The installation process, initiated last week, was completed with the activation of the facility on Wednesday, providing union members with wireless internet connectivity.

Senator Mustapha’s generous provision of a one-year subscription for the internet facility ensures that NUJ members can now access the internet conveniently through their mobile phones.

NUJ State Chairman Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed expressed appreciation for the installation and activation of the internet WiFi service, describing it as a significant relief for union members. He emphasized the crucial role of internet connectivity in enabling journalists to promptly gather and disseminate breaking news to the public.

During an interactive session with journalists in Ilorin last month, Senator Mustapha, also known as the Turaki of Ilorin, had announced his intention to procure and install the internet facility. Chairing the Senate Committee on Agricultural Production and Rural Services, he emphasized the importance of creating conducive working environments for media practitioners and reducing their expenses on internet subscriptions.

Assuring continued support, Senator Mustapha pledged to remain available to assist the NUJ Council whenever needed.
