The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of all party activities in honor of the late former Kwara South Senator, Dr. Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim (FCIB).

In a statement released in Ilorin on Friday, and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, the party expressed deep regret as it announced the suspension of all meetings, rallies, and political gatherings until after forty-one days, following the completion of all post-funeral rites and prayers.

The party emphasized the importance of this decision, mandating all members, forums, caucuses, youth associations, elders, and affiliated stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State to adhere strictly to the directive.

According to the spokesman, “this decision aims to provide the party and its leadership with ample time to mourn the passing of the distinguished Senator, Rafiu Ibrahim, and to reflect deeply on his significant contributions to the Party and democracy in Kwara State and the nation as a whole.

“In reflection of the somber state of the party due to this sad incident, the party, under the chairmanship of Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, directed all its flags hoisted in Secretariat across the sixteen local government areas of the state, including wards and other party levels, to be lowered.

“The party expressed gratitude to the people of Kwara and sympathizers of the late Senator across Nigeria for their solidarity during this difficult time, urging them to bear with the party as it navigates through this period of mourning and reflection,” it stated.
